Reporting to the Physiotherapist, the Physiotherapist Assistant position is a critical role with overall accountability for providing physiotherapy services for our residents to maximize their overall mobility, function and well-being.


As part of our team, your role as a Physiotherapy Assistant contributes to our resident experiences in the following ways:

  • Assists the Physiotherapist in implementation of treatment plans for residents, including but not limited to gait training, balancing exercises, transfer training, range of motion activities and strengthening exercises.
  • Applies modalities for residents in accordance with treatment plans, such as heat and ice therapy, ultrasound and use of TENS machine.
  • Provides regular updates to Physiotherapist regarding material changes in residents' mobility, function and wellbeing.
  • Records daily treatments and maintains an organized system of records management for the Physiotherapist.
  • Disinfects and sets up equipment for use in treatment of residents.
  • Works in accordance with the organization's Health and Safety Policies and Procedures and in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What You Need:

  • A certification or current enrollment in an accredited PTA program.
  • Must possess one (1) year related work experience, preferably in longterm care.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a collaborative team.
  • Excellent time management skills with an ability to prioritize and multitask in a fastpaced environment.
  • Must posses excellent written and oral communication skills and problemsolving abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other computerized documentation systems.
  • All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector check.

Salary:
From $17.50 per hour

Schedule:

  • Day shift
  • No weekends

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Prescott, ON K0E 1T0: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)

Experience:

  • LTC: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

  • PTA certificate (preferred)
