Position summary


The Junior Lumber Estimator will provide superior customer service through proactive leadership and communication; driving efforts to increase market share while optimizing the utilization of assets and cultivate many opportunities for greater profits.


What you'll do

  • Perform timely and accurate blueprint takeoffs using customer supplied blueprints.
  • Create accurate bids and materials price lists for sales staff in a timely manner.
  • Forecasting and scheduling, ensuring projects and tasks are delivered on time.
  • Follow established safety procedures for all assignments.
  • Problem solving, strategic planning with the ability to implement solutions.
  • Perform any other duties, responsibilities or tasks as assigned.
  • Adhere to ZyTech's safety, quality assurance and standard operating procedures and policies.
  • Other tasks as assigned by your manager.

What you need:

  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of blueprints (architectural, structural, and mechanical).
  • Expertise in the rough framing and construction process.
  • Knowledge of the building codes, engineering, and structural standards.
  • Knowledge of computer software i.e. MS Office, BisTrack, PlanSwift.

Education:

Residential construction and estimating experience and/or Technical School Diploma would be an asset for this position, but are not mandatory.
