The Canadian Opera Company ("COC") is looking for a
Costume Cutter covering a contract period from
April 24 to

June 11, 2023.
The Costume Cutter will be part of our Production department, working on _Treemonisha_, being produced by Volcano in
association with the Canadian Opera Company. This position reports to the Head of Costumes.

The actual hourly range for this position is $32.00-$37.90 per hour depending upon experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead a team to build and\or alter Men's and Women's period and modern clothing
  • Communicate and work cooperatively with the Costume Coordinator and Head of Costumes
  • Assist the designer and Coordinator in creating the looks required while staying within a strict budget
  • Follow deadlines
  • Follow all Health and Safety practices.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Postsecondary diploma in theatre and\or
  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a cutter in theatre
  • Be able to draft or drape Men's' and Women's period patterns
  • Knowledge of garment construction, sewing, and alterations
  • Ability to work with industrial sewing machines and irons
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Hours general fall into business hours Monday to Friday but a willingness and availability to work evenings and
weekends is required
