  • Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and resultsdriven professional to join our team in the role of
    Technical Writer.
  • This position is responsible for providing technical service by writing, editing and maintaining Ontario Power Generation, Nuclear (OPG,N) governing and technical documents.
  • Key accountabilities include providing editorial guidance and support to clients, ensuring updates on Governance and Change Management webpage are performed and performing audits on issued documents.
  • This is an exciting opportunity to work in an environment where you will contribute to OPG's public outreach, engagement and education efforts as part of the company's commitment to growing its social license.
    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Provide a service to authors and others in the form of editorial guidance and assistance in preparing governing and technical documents. Review draft documents and check that terminology on the document corresponds with approved formats and process requirements. Suggest improvements, as required, and provide guidance to ensure conformity and standardization across OPG, Nuclear.
  • Accountable for the health, safety and well being of self and others, in accordance with technical/ operating procedures and standards, and includes the development of technical/operating solutions to problems.
  • Interact with clients and item contributors to develop the document by determining the scope of the document, structure, type of document required, content, format and deadline requirements, pertinent to technical/trade and administrative needs.
  • Perform updates to Governance and Change Management webpage, ensuring correctness of document number, revision and title.
  • Resolve issues with client with respect to definition discrepancies, content, approvals, issuance etc., tactfully. Keep Line Manager informed where unusual problems or situations exist.
  • Write, edit and maintain OPG, Nuclear administrative governing and technical documents such as charters, standards, programs, procedures, instructions, forms etc. Provide support required by Nuclear departments to maintain their programmatic area. Produce this material in its final format, utilizing existing computer programs, templates, and electronic editing.

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or equivalent;

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of experience as a Technical Writer or equivalent role;
  • Ability to understand an explain technical concepts;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint);
  • Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills and strong attention to detail;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Good organizational and leadership skills, and to be a selfstarter who can work both; independently and in a team environment;
  • Results and detail oriented individual.
