NAIT'sVeterinary Technology and Veterinary Medical Assistant Programs, located at ourEdmonton Campus, require an individual to join their team as an InstructionalAssistant II. The position is primarily for weekdays and include may someweekends and evenings. The successful candidate must be available for shiftsbetween the hours of 7:00 am and 6:00 pm.

KeyResponsibilities:

Provide assistance in the instruction and operation ofthe Animal Studies Programs. Assist in VT and VMA student laboratories whichinclude basic clinic procedures, hematology, reception, anesthesia, surgicalassisting, and animal nursing. Provide a clean, safe work environment for studentsand staff in the laboratories. Prepare, set up and dismantle laboratory instrumentsand supplies for use by students and instructors. Assist instructors during instructional periods in theexplanation and demonstration of laboratory instruments and procedures tostudents, as required. Assess student skills and provide feedback tostudents. Perform quality control procedures. Maintain inventory and equipment for the Animal HealthPrograms. Order supplies and expendable items and maintainrelated inventory records for Animal Health. Assist with Occupational Health and Canadian Councilon Animal Care processes.

Skills& Abilities:

Strong interpersonal andteamwork skills Adapteasily to change and espouse continuous quality improvement with a strong focuson student success and satisfaction. Willing to learn and understand the policies,processes and procedures that pertain to animal studies programs. Have effective oral and written communication skills. Excellentworking knowledge of laboratory safety and exhibit safe work practices.

Qualifications:

Post-secondary certificate,diploma or degree in animal health technology or veterinary technology. An actively registeredVeterinary Technologist with the ABVMA with considerable directly relatedveterinary experience. Mixedanimal experience is an asset. Computer literacy, including experience with MicrosoftOffice Suite and animal clinic software is required Equivalencies may be considered.

Applicants witheducation credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentialsevaluated by World Education Services or the International QualificationsAssessment Service (IQAS).

Remuneration : $2, $3,057.59 bi-weekly, plus a comprehensive benefits package. (Classification –Instructional Assistant ll).

Thisposition is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE)Collective Agreement.
