The Research Coordinator position's primary role involves close interaction with seven cardiac surgeons at University Hospital implementing all aspects of research/clinical trials for the division.


Responsibilities:

  • Study participant screening, obtaining informed consent and enrolling patients into clinical trials
  • Coordinating and conducting study related procedures, interventions and assessments
  • Collecting, processing and shipping biological samples
  • Phlebotomy
  • Reviewing adverse events with Principle Investigators
  • Coordinating patient followup visits, assessments and tests
  • Maintaining and updating regulatory documents
  • Ethics submission and ongoing ethics correspondence
  • Data collection, analysis and management
  • Other duties as assigned

Rate of Pay:
To commensurate with experience

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week

Duration:
One year (LOA coverage)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Health Sciences or related field
  • Successful completion of a Clinical Research Professional Certification preferred, but not mandatory (SOCRA, ACRP)
  • Three (3) years of experience in clinical trial research
  • Experience with multicentre randomized trials working with industry sponsors and government regulatory agencies
  • Experience with ethics submissions and working with UWO REB and CTO
  • Experience with CRIC
  • Experience with creating budgets for clinical trials
  • Current GCP Certificate, knowledge of TCPS2, Health Canada Division 5 Training, TDA/IATA, Lawson CORE SOPs
  • Familiar with Health Canada and Food and Drug regulations and knowledge of ICH guidelines
  • Ability to interact with cardiac patients and perform all study related procedures for various study protocols
  • Ability to manage numerous clinical trials simultaneously
  • Proficient computer skills including word processing, database experience, medline searching, biostatistical programs (SAS, SPSS or BMDP), PowerPoint, Excel and Powerchart), eCRF data entry
  • Proven ability to work effectively and efficiently, both independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written) with a high level of initiative
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to the principles of patient and family centred care
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis

Immunization Requirements:

  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis.
  • Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step) and COVID vaccine series.
