Job Description:

The incumbent will be responsible for managing the development of our market-specific growth and optimization strategies.

This position will look at ways in which our business should segment and analyze our markets to drive correlations, targets, and strategic operating plans/actions across all of our Canadian regions.

The role will analyze competitor dynamics and developments, industry and economic trends, and territory dynamics, and provide recommendations and insights on strategic priorities, with the goal to drive market share capture and deepen our share of wallet.

Using research, planning, and evaluation, you will have a thorough understanding of our total landscape. You will identify trends in the market, forecast patterns, research on our competitors, and formulate cohesive market strategies.

Role's Responsibilities:

  • Partner with regional and corporate leaders across the company to drive UAP's market and growth strategy, strategic growth initiatives and market analysis.
  • Manage the research, identification and development of content, strategic/business plans, and organize and lead strategic discussions across different divisions and regions related to market and growth strategy.
  • Develop and maintain business intelligence and knowledge of our competitors (including benchmarking), industry and market intelligence, and development of strategic initiatives and actions. This role will provide short and longterm strategic recommendations to leadership that are meant to develop and capitalize on business opportunities for growth.
  • Develop, assess and manage the market segmentation, prioritization and foundational analytics (e.g. market size/share, open markets, market composition). Collaborate and be a strategic partner with leaders and sales teams to ensure understanding and develop capabilities to assess to key elements related to their regions, territories and dissemination areas.
  • Analyze and oversee store/franchising performance relative to internal company standards and develop recommendations to improve store/franchising expectations, agreements and documentation, monitoring/management processes, and programs.
  • Manage and monitor the progress of market and growth initiatives, including partnering with internal teams on sales programs and initiatives, franchising, business development and mergers and acquisitions.
  • Develop, maintain and manage the company's market analysis tools, software and data. Seek opportunities to improve market models and tools to drive deeper insights.

Qualifications:

  • Postsecondary education in Geoscience, Geo Marketing, Business, Data Science or a similar discipline related to the role; a higher level of education (e.g. MBA, MSc) is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in market strategy, growth strategy and/or franchising/commercial sales; individual must have previous experience in analyzing and identifying market, territory and regionalspecific growth and optimization strategies.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, both verbally and in writing, and ability to build effective and collaborative business relationships; bilingual in French and English (both oral and written), is a requirement of the role.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (including Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint) and ability to utilize automated functionality/tools to create efficiencies. Individuals with experience working with ArcGIS or other market mapping software would be preferred.
