For this position, we are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Health and Safety Co-op Student to assist in managing Health and Safety documentation for Teck Legacy Properties. This position will primarily focus on supporting the development, revision, and archiving of various Health and Safety documents, including policies, procedures, requirements, and safe work instructions. Depending on the needs and location of the team, you will need to work PDT or MDT or relocate to a specific office (site-based). You must also currently be a student enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary institution and will be enrolled throughout the duration of the co-op term (you will also be returning back to the post-secondary institution once the co-op term is completed). Proof of a valid work permit will also be required, if applicable.

Responsibilities

Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
Assist and support with Health and Safety documentation such as policies, procedures, work instructions, document revision, and archiving based on regulatory requirements and industry standard processes
Conduct research and analysis to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and industry standards
Support the implementation of document control processes to manage revisions, approvals, and distribution of Health and Safety documents
Ensuring compliance with Teck Health, Safety and Environmental Programs
Build and evaluate innovative ideas and technologies to help improve the way we do business

Qualifications

Pursuing a degree in Occupational Health and Safety
Experience working in mining or heavy construction and experience in practical and theoretical safety is considered an asset
Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with a capability to communicate complex ideas to all levels
Willingness to learn and understand Health and Safety regulation, standards, and legislation across Canada
Comfortable working in a multifaceted work environment and is able to work independently and collaborate within a team environment
Experience working effectively with hourly and management employees as well as Occupational Health and Safety Committees
Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite® of applications: Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access
Experience with SharePoint administration, especially setting up workflows for review, considered an asset
Motivated self-starter with the ability to handle several projects simultaneously

Wage Range: $4000 - $5200 / Month

Salary is commensurate with the number of academic semesters and prior co-op experiences completed.
