What you’ll do
During your co-op with Cognizant, you will:
Learn: your journey begins with 6-weeks of customized, world class training in areas such as GenAI, Java/.Net Full Stack. Upon completion, you will not only be ready to apply these skills to a real-world challenge at Cognizant, but you’ll also be able leverage this experience to succeed in the classroom, and beyond.
Code: along with other top Canadian students, you will partner with key stakeholders from one of our Business Units to tackle a real-world software engineering challenge, culminating in a capstone project presentation to our Leadership team.

What you bring to the role
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field and graduating in December 2025, or Spring 2026
- Ability to work full-time, 40-hour per week for 13-weeks for the duration of the co-op
- Some experience in solution architecture, software engineering, or related field is preferred but not required
- Knowledge of cloud technologies, such as AWS or Azure, is a plus.
- Familiarity with software design patterns, data patterns, and database design
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Working arrangements

Job summary
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Trainee with a focus on AP Development to join our dynamic team. Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and maintenance of application programs to meet business requirements.
- Collaborate with senior developers to understand project requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Participate in code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices and coding standards.
- Provide support in troubleshooting and resolving application issues to ensure smooth operation.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of new features and functionalities.
- Engage in continuous learning to stay updated with the latest technologies and industry trends.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.
- Assist in the preparation of technical documentation for reference and reporting purposes.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for improving processes and products.
- Ensure all development work is completed in a timely and efficient manner.
- Support the testing and deployment of applications to ensure they meet user requirements.
- Provide input on improving application performance and user experience.
- Contribute to the overall success of the team by taking on additional responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
- Possess a basic understanding of application programming and development principles.
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Show willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies.
- Exhibit good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Have a foundational knowledge of AP development tools and frameworks.
- Display a proactive attitude and a strong desire to contribute to the teams success.
- Nice to have experience with version control systems like Git.
- Nice to have familiarity with agile development methodologies.
- Nice to have basic knowledge of database management and SQL.
- Nice to have understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC).
Certifications Required
Certified Application Developer (CAD) or equivalent certification in application development.
