Solar Technician

SIFFT is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Solar Technician to work with us in the Muskoka and Parry Sound region. As a Solar Technician, you will play a crucial role in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of solar energy systems. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in the rapidly expanding field of renewable energy and contribute to a sustainable future.

What you'll do

• Solar System Installation: Perform the installation of photovoltaic (PV) solar systems on residential, commercial, and industrial properties. This includes mounting solar panels, wiring, and connecting electrical components.
• Maintenance and Repairs: Conduct routine maintenance checks and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance of existing solar systems. Identify and rectify system issues promptly.
• Quality Assurance: Ensure that all installations and maintenance activities adhere to industry standards, safety regulations, and company guidelines.
• Electrical Work: Handle electrical connections, including wiring inverters, ensuring safe and efficient electrical operation of solar systems.
• Customer Interaction: Interact with clients professionally, explaining the installation and maintenance processes and addressing their questions or concerns.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of installation and maintenance activities, including system configurations and parts used.
• Continuous Learning: Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to solar energy systems.
• Other work-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Passion for renewable energy and environmental sustainability.
• Able to work in confined spaces and at significant heights.
• Extensive knowledge and expertise in the field of solar energy.
• Knowledge of the Ontario Electrical Code.
• While most of this work occurs during weekdays, some evening and weekend work may also be required.

Experience and qualifications

• Minimum three years of experience in the solar industry. Previous experience in solar panel installation or related electrical work is advantageous.
• Hold a valid G Class Driver's License with a clean driving record.
• A background in electrical would be an asset.
