Responsibilities include
  • Classroom instruction to apprentice, entry-level or Industry Services students;
  • Shop and laboratory instruction and supervision;
  • Instructional counseling, evaluation and preparation;
  • Administrative responsibilities, including assignments, examination marking, and student evaluation;
  • Curriculum maintenance and program enhancement;
  • Administrative processes required to ensure appropriate resources are in place to deliver training;
  • Other duties directly related to the instruction of trades and vocational programs;
  • Input into development of modifications to workshop and instructional areas.
  • Instruction to apprentice, entry level, or Industry Services students; short-term coverage for full-time Instructor release, preparing and presenting classroom lectures; practical demonstrations, and working collectively with the Piping Chief Instructor.

Education
  • BC Trades Certificate of Qualification with Inter-Provincial Red Seal in Steamfitting, Plumbing or Gasfitting
  • Sprinkler fitter certification would be an asset
  • Minimum 'B' Gas Certificate yet 'A' Gas Certificate would be an asset
  • Five years' current work experience as a journeyperson
  • Supervisory and previous teaching experience is an asset
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to instruct the curriculum
  • Effective interpersonal skills and a strong desire to teach
  • Effective command of the English language, both written and oral
  • Experience working with apprentices in a supervisory role
  • Ability to work as part of a team and develop a collegial environment
  • Completion of the Provincial Instructors Diploma Program would be an asset
