Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and Innovate: Act as Project Manager, Structural Lead, and Designer for a diverse range of bridge projects, guiding them from initial concept through to completion;

  • Drive Business Growth: Engage in business development activities, including proposal preparation and client interactions, to support and expand our service offerings;
  • Provide On-Site Expertise: Visit project sites to collect essential data, assess existing structures, and oversee project progress during and after construction;
  • Craft and Refine: Prepare and review technical reports, tender documents, and cost estimates, ensuring precision and adherence to current design codes and standards; and
  • Uphold Excellence: Oversee the development of contract documents and perform quality checks on deliverables to maintain our high standards.

Other Related Duties as Required:

  • Engage with universities and contribute to our academic partnerships;
  • Present at conferences and share your knowledge through papers and presentations;
  • Develop and refine tools and workflows that enhance our team's efficiency; and
  • Explore and propose new business markets for our Bridge Group.

Your Capabilities and Credentials:

  • Educational and Professional Credentials: A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is required, with registration or eligibility for registration with provincial Engineering Associations;
  • Experience: Minimum five years of structural engineering experience for intermediate candidates, with a minimum of three years specifically in bridge engineering; or ten years of structural engineering experience for senior candidates, including at least five years focused on bridge engineering;
  • Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of bridge design and constructability, with proficiency in current design codes, including the CHBDC (CAN/CSA S6-19), ensuring high-quality engineering solutions;
  • Skilled in Inspection: Bridge inspection experience with a strong understanding of material conditions and defects;
  • Design Proficiency: Demonstrated expertise in designing both concrete and steel bridges for short and medium spans, ensuring structural integrity and compliance with relevant standards;
  • Collaborative Communicator: Strong communication skills for effectively conveying technical information, drafting detailed reports and proposals, and working seamlessly with drafting personnel and multidisciplinary teams;
  • Organized and Detail-Oriented: Proven ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently, maintain attention to detail, and oversee project timelines and budgets, ensuring successful project delivery; and
  • Experienced Relationship Builder: Strong capability to engage with clients, represent the company effectively, and contribute to business development efforts through proposal preparation and client interactions.

What Will Make you Stand Out:

  • A Master's or Ph.D. in Civil Engineering with a focus on bridge design, construction, or rehabilitation will set you apart as a candidate;
  • Familiarity with Atlantic Canadian and/or Ontario Provincial Standard Specifications;
  • Experience with various inspection methodologies, especially OSIM;
  • Knowledge of timber design and familiarity with US and/or European codes;
  • A passion for mentoring and developing junior engineers and technologists;
  • Advanced analytical and computer modeling skills (LUSAS Bridge preferred); and
