Job SummaryThe Department of English at Kwantlen Polytechnic University invites applications for two half-time temporary faculty positions (2 x 50% non-regular type 2 appointments), subject to budgetary availability. The contract period for one of these positions with four courses (sections) to be taught either in Summer term or across Summer and Fall terms.KPU is a teaching-oriented polytechnic university serving communities in the South Fraser region. As leaders in innovative and interdisciplinary education, we offer all learners, regardless of background and preparation, opportunities to achieve the highest standards of academic performance. Our many programs of study provide applied learning and broad-based university education.The English Department at KPU supports programs throughout the university and also offers its own major and minor Bachelor degree programs. We take great pride in our student-centered approach to learning, our emphasis on engagement and innovation, and our teaching-focused faculty.The successful candidate will have a record of undergraduate teaching excellence in a student-centred environment and a strong commitment to departmental and university service. Preference will be given to candidates with a specialization in composition and rhetoric. A background or a demonstrated interest in one or more of the following would be an asset: British Romanticism, digital writing and pedagogy, new media and/or digital humanities, the graphic novel, and cross-cultural global literatures. An M.A. in English is required; a Ph.D. is preferred.
