WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

Records and analyzes selective inspection data to determine mechanical problems within the Maintenance department. Updates existing plant maintenance and preventative maintenance systems, troubleshoots any equipment and/or machinery malfunctions to determine root cause(s) and develops corrective action plans to rectify the problems.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Conducts all mechanical selective inspections
  • Evaluates cost reduction opportunities
  • Records and analyzes selective inspection data to determine mechanical problems; Updates existing plant maintenance and preventative maintenance systems; troubleshoots any equipment and/or machinery malfunctions to determine root cause(s) and develops corrective action plans to rectify the problems.
  • Conducts technical reviews of vendors and contractors to ensure that they can provide the equipment, machinery, and/or services that we require
  • Updates existing plant maintenance and preventative maintenance systems; creates weekly and monthly plant equipment condition status reports
  • Supervises, including but not limited to hourly employees that work on compressors, water and dust collectors
  • Manages the continuous treatment in short, medium and long term of equipment recognized as being in critical condition.
  • Contributes to the creation and optimization of the maintenance budget.
  • Ensures the safety of subordinates through enforcing safe work practices and providing motivation and effective communication.
  • Ensures quality work by field verification
  • Ensures maintenance work orders are completed on a timely basis
  • Leads inspection activities of the PMC team
  • Participates and contributes to scheduled maintenance meetings and initiatives
  • Works toward the continuous improvement of maintenance KPIs
  • Provides detailed feedback regarding equipment condition and reliability improvements
  • Ensures that all technical training and development requirements are met for subordinates
  • Provides solutions to problems with employee performance such as absenteeism, discipline, etc.
  • Administers the collective bargaining agreement (if applicable) as it pertains to subordinates
  • Administers disciplinary action as required
  • Reviews individual performance with each subordinate
  • Conducts toolbox/tailgate safety talks
  • Manages vacation schedule prior to plant management approval
  • Ensures crew are aware of jobs at least one day in advance
  • Ensures that technical specifications and special instructions are available to crew for assigned jobs
  • Ensure that technical specifications are understood and adhered to by the crew
  • Participates in Daily and Weekly planning meetings
  • Provides input to Maintenance planner to set job priorities
  • Ensures all materials used on jobs are properly changes to the correct work order
  • Manages work time allocation for correct payroll
  • Ensures all hours are charged to the correct work order
  • Provides technical assistance to operation groups
  • Maintains accountability and serviceability of company owned tools
  • Ensures the availability of proper tools
  • Ensures that all maintenance vehicles and work areas are kept clean and safe
  • Consults with suppliers to optimize plant equipment
  • Assists in the purchase of non-stock parts and outside services as required
  • Assists in the maintenance of spare parts inventory
  • Provides input for the development of equipment BoM
  • Contributes toward the continuous improvement in the workplace.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or technical diploma in a mechanical field plus
  • 1-3 years related experience in a similar role; has a strong desire to work with a team and mentor their development.
  • Working knowledge of Condition-based monitoring technologies, vibration analysis and predictive maintenance and rotating equipment (air compressors, fans, blowers)
  • Ability to document and follow procedures; is a constructive thinker and can analyze, interpret and evaluate situations; ability to communicate clearly in written and verbal formats; skilled using MS Office, SAP, Kronos and other software; strong desire to lead a team and mentor team development
  • Plant reference in terms of selective inspection, including thickness testing, durometer testing, dimensional conformity, etc. specifically conducts analysis and reports upon selective inspections and statistical controls including and other predictive measurements taken from the machinery.
  • Leads the measurement, tracking and development of replacement plans for all wearing parts in the plant.
  • Leads the investigation, research and development of new materials in the plant.
  • Leads the continuous improvement of all operating equipment conditions.
  • Experience with bulk handling materials equipment inspection and performance monitoring
