Work Schedule: 3pm 11pm Monday to Friday

DEPARTMENT: Production

REPORTS TO: Production Supervisor

No. of positions: 2

Pay Rate: $27.09 / hr.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Operate extrusion equipment, troubleshoot, handle clean downs, make packaging labels,

build packaging, handle repacks, move Finished Goods packages to staging area, do on

line quality checks like PPG, SPC recording, housekeeping, process optimization,

completing production paperwork, setting up and documenting SOCs.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Must be knowledgeable in weighing and blending raw materials
  • Follows Ampacet working rules and Health & Safety Policies and
  • procedures.
  • Maintains work area in safe and orderly condition.
  • Records operating conditions on the WORK ORDER.
  • fills out WORK ORDERS and highlights any quality concerns on the
  • WORK ORDER and communicates to Shift Supervisor and QC Lab.
  • takes samples and labels of finished products according to sampling
  • procedures and take to QC Lab.
  • has the authority to make operating adjustments to ensure product quality.
  • responsible for proper clean down of his/her equipment/machinery on
  • colour and product changes.
  • package finished goods manually in a safe manner.
  • creates product, customer specific and GHS labels and applies them as per
  • procedure on finished goods packaging.
  • moves finished goods to staging area.
  • Maintaining a healthy and positive attitude toward the company and its
  • management.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe and orderly work area.
  • Other duties as assigned by production supervision.

SCOPE OF POSITION AND EVALUATION CRITERIA:

For all production positions, it is understood that all will be responsible for housekeeping

of work areas, assisting with clean downs, following the WORK ORDER, following

proper safety procedures, wearing the proper personal protection equipment, waste and

yield loss control, understanding of LOTO / JSHA and ISO guidelines, completion of all

paperwork, proper material handling procedures, following good manufacturing

practices, and coverage of the other positions for breaks, lunches, and vacation/sick as

deemed necessary by the supervisor.

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3 to 5 years prior experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience in
  • plastic extrusion processes, single and twin screw technologies is a plus.
  • physical requirements include ability to stand for 6-8 hours, lift up to 30 kg,
  • repetitive lifting of 18 kg as needed, and manual dexterity to work with hand tools
  • and operate equipment

2. TECHNICAL SKILLS and TRAINING

Must be literate and have good communication skills

Must have good math skills - Good computer skills

3. CONFIDENTIALITY

Product formulations and processing information. Equipment knowledge.

4. IMPACT

The Extruder Operator decisions affect production quality, production efficiency,

costs, safety and employee morale under the guidance of the Shift Supervisor.

5. BUDGET RESPONSIBILITY

N/A

6. AUTHORITY TO ACT

Under the direction of the Shift Supervisor and the Assistant Shift Supervisor the

Extruder Operator works with others to complete production as scheduled and as

job function requires.
