The Senior Advisor will manage the enterprise-wide employee giving and volunteering program, Cenovus Cares. This includes driving the giving and volunteering strategy, business enablement, change management and integration of Cenovus's enterprise employee giving and volunteerism agenda. Together with the Cenovus Cares Ambassadors and cross functional partners, this role leads the implementation of giving programs across the enterprise will work closely in partnership with leadership, internal groups like communications, human resources, and regional communications to advance the programs goals and our business priorities.

The Senior Advisor will have demonstrated experience and expertise in the management and execution of world-class employee engagement programming and enterprise initiatives. They will support the development of employee giving engagement and activation program strategies and the execution of the company's annual employee campaigns. This individual leads the execution of the operations, promotion of the program, and is the strategic lead on giving platform vendor relationship management and is the subject matter expert on all things employee giving.

Additionally, the candidate will understand the trends of corporate volunteerism and be an active participant in networks that support and grow the field of corporate volunteerism.

The role is within the Community and Indigenous Affairs team and reports directly to the Manager, Social Investment.

What you'll do:

  • Develops Cenovus's employee giving and volunteering program strategy (Cenovus Cares), ensuring key goals and objectives are delivered and aligned to overall Cenovus goals.

  • Leads the corporate employee program, including developing the program components, and ensuring the execution of all program component.

  • Creates and implements innovative and engaging annual, global, employee giving campaigns.

  • Plans and implements special events related to employee giving and volunteering initiatives.

  • Leads enterprise-wide Cenovus Cares Ambassador network and related program elements.

  • Works collaboratively with internal and external partners to promote programs.

  • Acts as a subject matter expert on employee giving programs and relevant regulations and policies.

  • Builds and maintain program methods and processes for engaging employees -including relevant guidelines, practices and policies.

  • Identifies emerging issues and trends to innovate, inform decision making and make improvements to the program.

  • Leads change management programs of varying scope and type, including readiness assessments, planning, partner management, execution, and sustainment of initiatives.

  • Analyzes the impact and effectiveness of the program through periodic reviews of the program and makes recommendations to improve processes, procedures and/or policy.

  • Leads the technology that supports the employee programs (Benevity Spark and Missions) and makes recommendations to streamline processes where needed.

  • Networks with industry partners, participates in relevant sector memberships and committees, and attends key sector and partnership events to garner insights and standard processes.

  • Supports communications strategy with impactful story opportunities and ensures consistency of messaging.

  • Works collaboratively with Human Resources, Regional SI Representatives, and others to integrate giving/volunteering programs at all stages of the employee lifecycle and to support employee engagement priorities.

Who you are:

  • Undergraduate degree in a related field of study.

  • Minimum 8-10 years of demonstrated, progressive experience in a social impact, human resources or not for profit role.

The role requires strong skills in the following areas:

  • Exceptional program management skills - in depth knowledge and skills at handling global, multi partner programs.

  • Collaborative and inclusive - ability to work with leadership and across teams and functions internally and with a cross section of diverse, external partners.

  • Critical, and strategic thinker - ability to think of creative and engaging ways to mobilize employees and achieve multiple business objectives.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills - ability to design presentations and deliver messages to diverse audiences; is comfortable presenting and speaking to large and small groups.

  • Exemplary organizational skills and a self-starter - excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize for impact, manage multiple initiatives at once and rolls up their sleeves to deliver.
