The Ministry of the Solicitor General, Ontario Provincial Police, and the Career Development Bureau are seeking a qualified individual to join our In Service Training Unit. In this exciting, rewarding and challenging opportunity, you will coordinate and provide program leadership for the development, implementation, and maintenance of first aid training and related medical equipment for frontline OPP members.

This is an operational position requiring a high level of engagement with members and stakeholders. The successful applicant will be required to report to their assigned OPP worksite to perform their duties in accordance with Ontario Public Service workplace policies. This position requires some travel throughout the Province of Ontario.

The Career Development Bureau (CDB) is comprised of Human Resources and the Provincial Police Academy. The Ontario Provincial Police In-Service Training (IST) Unit is coordinated from General Headquarters in Orillia with 13 deployed training sites across the province consisting of a staff of 61 proud and dedicated members. The IST program is designed to offer professional instruction to all OPP uniform members annually.

What can I expect to do in this role?To coordinate and provide program leadership for the development, implementation, and maintenance of first aid training and related medical equipment for frontline OPP members.

How do I qualify?Mandatory• Must possess and maintain a valid first aid and CPR certification or equivalent.
• Must maintain a basic level of fitness to provide first aid training and demonstrate the required first aid skills.
• Must be able to pass an OPP background security investigation.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Class G Driver's licence.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:• Knowledge of:
o And skill in providing first aid and CPR both in a real-world application and training environment.
o Research methods and techniques to prepare environmental scans and situational assessments for first aid training, related medical equipment and policy.
o Planning and project management methodologies, processes, and techniques to coordinate first aid training updates, medical equipment procurements and other related projects; and to prioritize workload to meet competing deadlines.
o And skill in curriculum development and presentation design.
• Ability to:
o Respond to and resolve logistical issues through research, effective decision making and SOP development.
o Utilize analytical skills to identify appropriate sources of information and compile, organize and analyze information to develop plans and present in an understandable manner.
• Oral and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills.
• Problem solving skills and ability to draw on personal experience, knowledge, and training to solve complex situations.
