The Apprentice Technician (AVN) will attend the Transport Canada accredited IMP Academy AME-M Training Program and participate in the required on the job training. They will work alongside qualified technicians to gain the required experience needed to complete the program and may work on multiple aircraft platforms. Duties for the apprentice include but are not limited to attending all training, participating in On-the-Job Experience (OJE) and On-the-Job Training (OJT) for servicing tasks, elementary tasks, and maintenance, including aircraft documentation, inspection, removal, cleaning, repair, Installation, adjustments, and testing of aircraft mechanical, and structural components. Upon successful completion of the IMP Academy program, apprentices will be moved into the Airframe Mechanic classification.
What You Will Do:- You will be responsible for ensuring you are ready and available for all training modules and OJT experiences.
- Receive on-the-job training from other employees to progress through apprenticeship to certified Aircraft Maintenance Technician.
- Providing support to Airframe Mechanics for both on and off aircraft work.
- The safe operation of support equipment and hand/power tools while adhering to tool and Foreign Object Debris (FOD) control procedures.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area utilizing safe work practices and appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Performance of on and off aircraft servicing, elementary work, modification, maintenance, and specialized maintenance under the supervision of a qualified technician.
- Perform other tasks as may be required from time to time.
- Adhere to policies, procedures and directives as established by the company.
- Upon completion of the apprenticeship program, you will then be required to assume the role and all responsibilities of the Airframe Mechanic.
- A high school diploma or equivalent upon approval.
- Completion of the IMP Academy Introduction to Aerospace Program.
- Ability to use standard computer programs and such specialized ones as may be necessary in the performance of the duties.
- A strong willingness and the capability to learn the content and computer programs as required, follow procedures, and become familiar with technical terms and references.
- The capability to succeed in a fast-paced environment, working well under pressure while maintaining precision when faced with deadlines.
- Strong organizational, time management and critical thinking skills
- A self-directed work ethic where high attention to detail is the minimum standard
- A collaborative and cooperative attitude and a strong desire to see your program succeed.
- Demonstrate a personal commitment to IMP Occupational Health, Safety and Environment policies.
- Must be eligible to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Canadian government security clearances
