Salary or Pay Band: Pay Band 8, $51.369 to $59.751 (5 step range)

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY: Under the supervision and direction of the Regional Manager, Oncology Pharmacy Services, the Oncology Pharmacists integrate knowledge, skills and abilities in the provision of quality pharmacy services within the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency. The Oncology Pharmacists are responsible for the provision of patient-focused pharmaceutical care by optimizing medication therapy and ensuring safe, comprehensive and effective drug distribution services for patients of the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency. The Oncology Pharmacists are accountable to the organization for monitoring the adherence to treatment guidelines, compliance with policies and procedures, and commitment to the fiscal management of drug resources. QUALIFICATIONS: Education:
  • Bachelor Degree in Pharmacy.
  • Completion of a hospital pharmacy residency program at a recognized Canadian tertiary care hospital OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience is an asset.
  • Experience in an oncology setting is an asset.
Memberships:
  • Licensed with Saskatchewan College of Pharmacists.
Skills:
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the practice of pharmacy consistent with recognized standards of practice.
  • Displays strong knowledge of the principles of pharmaceutical care.
  • Demonstrates ability to learn the clinical aspects of cancer disease, treatment modalities and systemic therapy programs.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and competency of aseptic techniques and the use of Biological Safety Cabinets, and processes for safe handling of hazardous drugs, including closed system drug transfer devices.
  • Human relations skills are required to develop formal relationships of a therapeutic nature to assist others in achieving their short or long term goals.
  • Ability and willingness to work cooperatively and effectively with SCA staff members and/or external partners.
  • Ability to interpret detailed information and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize workload.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Initiative and independent judgment required to solve complex problems.
  • Ability to accept and implement change.
  • Proficiency with a variety of computer systems and software applications.
  • Knowledge of culturally responsive care for First Nations and Métis people.
