Your work environment at EXP


EXP is currently searching for a Geoscience Technician to join the Hydrogeology -Environmental Team of our Geoscience Group in the London, Ontario office. The ideal candidate will be a motivated, detail-oriented, self-starter with 2 to 4 years of experience in hydrogeological field work and environmental consulting services. Reporting to the group manager, this person will be responsible for a broad range of tasks.

What a day at EXP has in store for you

  • Conduct all aspects of Hydrogeological field work including monitoring well installations, well development and testing, groundwater and surface water quality sampling, infiltration testing, and surveying
  • Oversee drilling programs and associated monitoring well installations, including detailed borehole and monitoring well field logs
  • Program dataloggers for installing in monitoring wells and surface water bodies installations
  • Complete shallow groundwater piezometer and staff gauge installations for ongoing monitoring programs
  • Complete in situ infiltration testing using various equipment such as a Guelph Permeameter
  • Ability to hike long distances across large properties to complete monitoring programs and installations
  • Organize and tabulate analytical data
  • Maintain excellent working relationships with clients and other team members


What your experience looks like

  • University degree or college diploma in a related field of study such as Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science/Technology, Hydrogeology or Geoscience.
  • 2 to 4 years of progressive experience in the environmental consulting field is preferred.
  • Strong computer skills including MS Word and data tabulation in MS Excel considered an asset.
  • Effective writing and communication skills.
  • A valid driver's G license and access to a vehicle are required, as this role will include field visits to client sites.
  • Comfortable working outdoors alone.
  • Ability to work independently in the field based on verbal or written project briefings provided.
  • Strong note taking and organizational skills.
  • Experience in hydrogeological field data collection an asset.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to problem solve, troubleshoot, and put forth creative solutions.
