SCHEDULE: Day, Evening, Night, Weekend, Rotation, 8 and 12-hour shifts. Work schedule may be changed to meet operational needs.
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS: French essential and spoken English

JOB SUMMARY:
The anesthesia assistant will assist the anesthesiologist in patient assessment, treatment and education. The anesthesia assistant, under the guidance of the attending anesthesiologist, is responsible for assisting in the initiation and management of ventilation and life support, invasive and non-invasive monitoring, and respiratory support in the operating room or any area of the facility where anesthesia services may be required. Able to report to work within 20 minutes when on stand-by and call-back duty. Perform any other related duties as per the needs of the department.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Diploma from a recognized program for anesthesia assistants;
- Member of the New Brunswick Association of Respiratory Therapists (NBART);
- BLS (basic life support) certificate and maintenance of certification;
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certificate or obtain within set timeframe;
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certificate or obtain within set timeframe;
- Proven skills in developing a treatment and therapy plan in collaboration with the patient, their loved ones and the interdisciplinary team;
- Proven ability to organize and manage assigned workload;
- Proven ability to function in a changing work environment;
- Proven skills in communication and interpersonal relations with the care team;
- Working knowledge of computers;
- Strong interest in furthering own knowledge;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Physical ability to perform assigned work;
- Good work history (performance and attendance);
- Adherence to professional ethics principles, the Network's management philosophy and organizational values;
- Adherence to Vitalité Health Network's confidentiality rules.
