The Copper Mountain mine currently produces approximately 100 million pounds of copper equivalent per year. With a future mill expansion and the integration of New Ingerbelle, the Copper Mountain Mine is expected to produce approximately 140 million pounds of copper equivalent per year over the first 20 years of its 32-year mine life based on reserves. The Opportunity:

Hudbay Minerals Inc. is seeking a Light Vehicle Mechanic at our Copper Mountain Mine in Princeton, BC. This position is a 7x7 schedule, day and night shift rotation.

Please note that this opportunity is NOT a fly-in-fly-out position.

Position
Light Vehicle Mechanic

Location
Copper Mountain Mine is located near the town of Princeton, British Columbia at the center of the scenic Similkameen Valley. Princeton is a community-oriented town with a diverse offering of activities, especially for those who love the outdoors. Princeton is also in close proximity to both the city of Vancouver and the Okanagan.

Summary
Reporting to the Shovel and Drill Supervisor, the Light Vehicle Mechanic will provide full oversight of maintenance, overhaul, recondition, and repairs of light-duty equipment in the shop and field locations.

Responsibilities
Diagnose faults or malfunctions in all light-duty equipment and then determines the safe and more efficient method of repair, Follows all safe work & shop safety policies while performing work in shop & yard, Performs other duties as required or as assigned by the department head.
Education & Experience
Certified Red Seal Automotive Service Technician, Possess a solid mechanical ability/aptitude, Conduct pre-and post-operational checks and complete equipment logbooks properly, Good general computer skills, Previous experience with Maximo as an asset.
Required Skills
Self-motivated and able to work alone or with minimal supervision, Must be able to climb on equipment and under equipment in damp muddy conditions, Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, General good housekeeping practices in the work area. Possess a valid driver's license. Class 1 with air endorsement as an asset, Required to meet pre-employment testing requirements.
Working Conditions
Frequent exposure to uncomfortable conditions associated with the work environment such as working in noisy and dusty environments, Repeated exposure to vibrations, and chemicals, and will often require working alone with minimum supervision, Work includes working in heavy industrial environments; this may have conditions that include adverse temperature conditions, both hot and cold; in and/or around moisture; walking on slippery and/or rough, uneven surfaces, in confined spaces; at heights; and involves climbing ladders and stairs, Exposure to working outdoors in all weather conditions, operating a light vehicle at our operations, in various weather conditions and terrain, including winter driving, Regular exposure to lifting and moving items and equipment up to 50 pounds, Work requires to be clean-shaven.
Rate of Pay
$52.58 / hr.
