Position Summary:

Reporting to the Retail Manager/Ultimate Yield Manager, the Sales Agronomist will be responsible for engaging new and existing customers in products and agronomy services The Rack has to offer through their 6-factor Ultimate Yield program and processes. The successful candidate will also be required to promote our niche products and remain updated on market intel.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND Position Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain the highest value to the customer by differentiating yourself and The Rack
  • Work with all facets of the farming operation, providing valuable information to support growers' in making management decisions
  • Conduct Field Production Appraisal creating recommendation for the customer
  • Drive sales of all products including crop protection products, fertilizer, seed, specialty services
  • Keep informed of competitor activities within the market area and recommends marketing programs and services
  • Engage new customers in our research and arrange customer learning opportunities that provide incremental value with other members and areas of Ultimate Yield
  • Recommending usage of appropriate chemicals and fertilizers for customers including precision farming customers
  • Other duties as required

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • College graduate with a Major in an area of Business Administration or Agricultural Science and/or Business will be given preference
  • Preference will be given to candidates having specialization in soils or plant science
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience in a position within the agricultural industry, with a diverse portfolio of agricultural experience, primarily in sales

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize responsibilities, exceptional communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills are necessary to increase market share and achieve location goals
  • Ability to work closely with all levels of staff and management
  • Proficient in the use of computers and software including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Technical understanding of the agricultural support industry and ability to identify customer existing and ongoing needs
  • Familiar with The Rack as a company along with products/services available
  • Must live in or near to the community of Luseland SK
