SMS Equipment is growing We are looking for a Machinist who will provide support to our Welding Department by interpreting blueprints to produce tools and components. If you prioritize safety, like precision and are organized then keep reading. This position is in Fort McMurray, AB.

The shift rotation for this position is 14x14. Housing is available.

The hourly rate for this position is $66.57 per hour plus applicable premiums.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

This position requires the capability of following very precise specifications, the experience in the operation of lathes, horizontal and vertical boring mills, milling machines, and drill presses. Working with close tolerance and performing quality control checks. Additional responsibilities include:

Having a strong awareness and attitude towards workplace health and safety. Calculating dimensions and tolerances to set up and operate tools to perform precise machining operations on various mining products both new and rebuilt Fitting parts to mechanisms and verifying dimensions using precision measuring tools. Studying specifications, charts, drawings, or sample parts to determine the machining operation to be performed. Measuring and marking metal and other materials to fine tolerances. Milling large diameter surfaces using manual machining processes. Motivated and able to work in a challenging environment with minimal supervision. Assist other trades as required

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will possess a Journeyperson Machinist Certification and a minimum of three (3) years of industry related experience. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. Other requirements include, but are not limited to:

• Highly motivated and able to work in a fast paced environment with minimal supervision
• Proven ability to adhere to and maintain workplace health and safety initiatives
• Capability of following very precise specifications with excellent attention to detail and time management skills
• Ability to keep accurate records and measurements
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Strong focus on providing valuable customer service
• Proven ability to operate large line boring and milling machine equipment
• Proven mechanical ability experience with portable line boring
