About the Job:

As an Animal Attendant Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the staff at our animal shelter. Your responsibilities will include tasks such as washing dishes, doing laundry, organizing supplies, and ensuring the shelter is clean and tidy. You will also be responsible for providing clean food, water, and bedding to all animals in our care, as well as recognizing and reporting any unusual conditions or behaviors.

In addition to animal care duties, you will also engage with members of the public, maintain professional communication with staff, volunteers, and clients, and assist with unpacking, labeling, and stocking shelter supplies and donations. Your contributions will have a direct impact on the well-being of the animals in our care, as they rely on a clean and organized environment to feel safe and comfortable.

A candidate (student) must:

  • Be a resident of New Brunswick (must have lived in New Brunswick for at least 6 months) or a First Nation community in New Brunswick;
  • Be eligible to work in Canada (must have a valid SIN number);
  • NOT be an immediate family member (spouse, children, parent, brother or sister) of the employer;
  • Be a high school student entering grade 10, 11, or 12 in September 2024; OR
  • Be a full-time Grade 12, university or college student in the current academic year of 2023-2024 AND attending a post-secondary institution full-time in the fall of 2024.
