Regular, Part Time

Surrey, BC

As per the current Public Health Order, full vaccination against COVID-19 is a condition of employment with PHSA as of October 26, 2021.

You are a Family Physician seeking to diversify your experience while making a direct impact on people's lives in your chosen community. This part-time opportunity will allow you to build your professional practise portfolio in the area of mental health and addictions, without the overhead/start-up costs that come with operating a speciality clinic. Enjoy working within an inter-professional team, with full access to the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system to support delivery of comprehensive patient care. Your good care is someone's future opportunity.

"For the last sixteen years, I have practiced Correctional Medicine and I love it. There is never a dull moment; seeing interesting and complex medical patients in a safe environment. I have excellent nursing and administrative support, work part time, and really enjoy working as part of a multidisciplinary team. There is no overhead working in the jail and enjoy good remuneration. I would recommend working in Correctional Medicine to anyone with experience in mental health and addictions and who has a desire to make a difference in the lives of inmate-patients."

- Shared by Dr. Margaret Robertson, Family Practitioner

This new model of health care provides the opportunity to grow your expertise as a Primary Care Practitioner in an environment where you are supported from day one, and where leaders and colleagues across disciplines will support you every step of the way. Be part of a team where you can live and work in your community, positively influence an incarcerated individual's journey down a new path, and see the difference you can make as you serve the diverse populations of the BC Corrections system.

Reconciliation is an ongoing process and a shared responsibility for all of us. The BC Governments' unanimous passage of the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act was a significant step forward in this journey—one that all health authorities are expected to support as we work in cooperation with Indigenous Peoples to establish a clear and sustainable path to lasting reconciliation. True reconciliation will take time and ongoing commitment to work with Indigenous Peoples as they move toward self-determination. Guiding these efforts Crown agencies must remain focused on creating opportunities that implement the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Mandate.
