RELIABILITY ENGINEER

Position Description:

A reliability engineer's primary function is to minimize the business impact due to critical equipment downtime and by maximizing uptime and minimizing asset life cycle cost.

Responsibilities:
Performing asset prioritization to identify key focus areas to reduce cost and failure frequency. Developing and optimizing maintenance strategies for critical and high priority assets. Identifying and monitoring equipment KPIs such as Availability, Reliability, MTBF, MTTR, Cost/hr. etc. Defining the top 10 reasons for the process down time, develop mitigation plans. Facilitating root cause analysis workshops, drive the implementation of corrective actions. Performing criticality assessment for mining and milling equipment, developing good maintenance strategies. Evaluating the risk associated with the Management of Change related to equipment modifications. Optimizing asset maintenance strategies using the principles of Reliability Centered Maintenance. Defining major component benchmarks, define opportunities to increase intervals and reduce cost. Identifying critical spares and inventory levels for major components, serialized rebuilds, parts, etc. Optimizing Standard Work Procedures for common jobs and maintenance tasks. Acting as the owner of down time data, ensure data integrity and quality to support reliability analysis. Ensuring proper coding of down events using proper asset hierarchy and failure codes. Analyzing failure reports provided by rebuild shops and equipment OEM's, to ensure corrective actions are being implemented to prevent repeat failures. Leading and develop the predictive maintenance program utilizing technologies such as vibration, infra-red, airborne ultrasound, NDT, ...etc. Ensuring compliance with the regulations for several programs such as lifting devices, tanks and vessels integrity programs, pressure vessels, piping systems integrity, equipment certification, etc. Creating power of BI reports to track equipment KPIs such as; Availability, Cost, MTBF, etc.

Qualifications:
Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering [required]. Eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario [required]. High Competency level with the Reliability Centered Maintenance methodology [required]. Experience with an enterprise asset management system such as SAP [preferred] Proficiency in conducting failure analysis and leading failure investigation workshops [required]. Familiarity with condition monitoring techniques such as oil analysis, vibration analysis, ultrasonic testing, Ue technology, thermography, etc. [preferred]. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written [required]. Strong prioritization, critical thinking, risk management and strategic planning skills [required]. Ability to influence and promote positive reliability culture change [required]. Experience with the following software: SAP, Power of BI, MS Office and MS Project [required].
