Description

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick (CPSNB) is a medical regulatory authority that, by authority of the Medical Act, 1981, serves and protects the public by regulating the practice of medicine in the province. With over 20 employees and over 2000 licensed physicians, the CPSNB is currently seeking a Clinical Investigator to support and further the CPSNB's mandate.

Reporting to the Director of Complaints, the incumbent will work Monday through Friday, 8:30am - 4:30pm. Flexibility in hours may be required at specific times and may include evenings and weekends.

Key Responsibilities

As Clinical Investigator, you will support the operational administration of the Professional Conduct Department to best ensure success and to meet the requirements of the CPSNB.

Below is an outline of key responsibilities:

  • Identify, obtain, and analyze relevant information and documents, including hospital and office records, reports, statements, and transcripts
  • Draft summaries of the medical records
  • Conduct interviews of patients and witnesses
  • Explain the complaints process and College policies to patients
  • Provide organizational support to the College as needed
  • Physically able to perform assigned duties
  • Other duties as required

Required Education and Experience

  • Nursing diploma, other relevant post-secondary education, or relevant work experience
  • 2+ years' relevant work experience; or equivalent of education and experience
  • Bilingualism in French and English, both written and oral

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to read and interpret medical records
  • Proficient with Microsoft 365 products
  • Strong writing skills
  • Strategic approach to problem solving
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a timely manner
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to navigate emotionally-charged situations
  • Team player who can also work independently and take initiative
  • Understanding of the regulatory environment would be an asset
  • Interviewing skills would be an asset
