About this opportunity:

The Mineral Analyst is responsible for the daily management of the mineral interests in their assigned property, supporting the area Contracts Advisor and Land Negotiator. Day-to-day activities would include receiving, circulating, and processing documents from the Crown, attending drilling planning/execution meetings, reviewing and approving well locations, as well as maintaining the records in CS Explorer associated with the area. The pace in this role can fluctuate, based on well activity, land sales, A&D, as well as external factors. A successful candidate in this role can adapt to the situation, provide accurate and complete information to stakeholders and maintain the integrity of our internal files.

What you'll do:

  • Provides mineral land support to Contracts Analysts, Land Negotiators, Contracts Landmen, and Negotiating Landmen.
  • Coordinates Crown Land Sales with Negotiator and completes sales as required.
  • Accountable for leading the land expiry process with support.
  • Records new acquisitions and dispositions in land system using A&D guide.
  • Prepares and submits caveats, withdrawals, discharges, and transfers to land titles office, and advises partners and freehold owners.
  • Verifies documentation prepared by Broker for newly acquired Freehold leases.
  • Handles trespass issues and prevention.
  • Understands Alberta, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia Crown regulations, Freehold, and Fee title administration.
  • Prepares and sets up trust agreements.
  • Assists with acquisitions and dispositions as required.
  • Maintains mineral lease records in CS land system, ensuring proper filing and information location.
  • Responds to internal and external queries and assists in resolution.
  • Prepares Fee Title Lease outs, offset notices, title reviews, lease decisions, and Fee Title Leases.
  • Communicates with Freeholders, Partners, and Government Agencies.
  • Uses ETS/ISC for searches, transfers, offset applications, and continuations, and SPIN/IRIS for Land title information.

Who you are:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Must be willing to work in the office in downtown Calgary.
  • 2-7 years of oil and gas land administration experience.
  • Completion of a recognized Land program is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • CAPLA Member (Canadian Association of Petroleum Land Administration) is preferred.
  • Understanding and basic working knowledge of Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia Crown regulations, as well as Freehold and Fee title administration.
  • Some understanding of Lessor estates and ownership changes.
  • Proficient with computer applications and systems including MS Office, CS Land, Generwell, Accumap, SAP, ETS/ISC, SPIN/IRIS.
