METALLURGICAL TECHNICIAN

Under the direction of the Metallurgist, the Metallurgical Technician assists the Metallurgical team in providing technical support to the crushing, heap leach, and ADR Circuits. The role assists the Metallurgical team in monitoring production targets, helps identify and solve bottlenecks, and troubleshoot process equipment. This position will work on a rotational basis of 12-hour shifts. The blended hourly rate for this role starts at 34.33. Responsibilities are noted below which will include but are not limited to:

 

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

Safety of self and others; Zero environmental non-compliances, accidents and incidents; Follow daily key production indicators and advise when changes are required; Monitor key metal accounting parameters; Generate daily metallurgical and water balance of the circuit; Develop and implement continuous improvement targets; Ensure accurate and timely reporting of production activities; Stay current with mining laws and safety regulations ensuring that direct reports are in compliance with established guidelines; and Behave in a way that demonstrates support of Victoria Gold’s Vision and Values                                                                                                                                          

Qualifications and Experience:

Working towards a degree in Mineral Processing, Metallurgy, or other science related field(s) Excellent communication skills, oral and written, in English; 3+ years of metallurgical experience in base and/or precious metals processing is required; Basic knowledge of comminution, carbon handling, refining, and cyanide destruction operations; Previous experience in gold processing such as: heap leach facility, carbon in columns and ADR is preferred; Competent in the use of metallurgical accounting databases; good computer skills with the ability to use integrated management systems, word processing, presentation and spreadsheet applications; Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally, as required by the project; Self-directed and self-motivated, demonstrating initiative to do more than is expected or required in the position; Must pass pre-employment medical, substance abuse test, criminal records check, hold a valid driver’s license, provide a driver’s abstract; and, Have a proven commitment to safety, health and environmental standards.
