The Role:

We're looking for an Industrial Designer to join our product team. Are you:

In this role, you will report directly to the Manager, Product and Innovation. You will also work closely with cross-functional teams to bring your designs to life. In this role, you will:


  • Create Innovative Products: Use a variety of materials like rubber, silicone, metal, and fabrics to create a diverse range of pet products that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
  • Apply Design Thinking Principles: Employ design thinking methodologies to understand user pain points and develop innovative solutions that enhance the pet owner's experience.
  • Uncover Customer Insights: Conduct surveys and interviews to gain valuable insights into customer preferences and behaviors, which will inform your product development process.
  • Stay Updated with Market Trends: Keep abreast of market trends and innovations in the pet industry, integrating elements such as fit, form, function, colour, materials, and technology into your designs.
  • Produce Accurate Specifications: Generate detailed 2D and 3D product specifications and drawings, considering cost, ergonomic, safety, and manufacturing constraints.
  • Lead Cross-Departmental Meetings: Collaborate with various departments to ensure alignment on design objectives and project requirements.
  • Generate Presentations: Create visually compelling 3D renderings and presentations for cross-functional meetings, effectively communicating your design concepts and ideas.
  • Create and Maintain Product Specification Documents: Develop comprehensive product specification documents detailing design specifications, materials, dimensions, etc… These documents serve as a reference for cross-functional collaboration, ensuring alignment across production, marketing, and sales department.
  • Lead Design Communication Process: Take charge of the design communication process from ideation to implementation, ensuring a seamless transition from concept to final product.
  • Support Packaging Design: Assist in the design and technical specifications of packaging dielines, ensuring they complement the overall product design and branding.
  • Analyze Data: Use data analysis to make informed decisions regarding product assortments and categories, optimizing product offerings to meet customer demand.
  • Project Management: Oversee the entire product development lifecycle, from conception to launch. Keep track of project status, budget, and schedule, providing regular updates to the manager and stakeholders.
  • Foster Continuous Improvement: Cultivate a mindset of continuous improvement within the design process, seeking ways to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.


Requirements:

  • Minimum 2-3 years of work experience as an Industrial Designer.
  • Technical proficiency in 2D & 3D programs like Keyshot, Rhino, Fusion, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to confidently present designs and respond to inquiries.
  • Post-secondary degree in Industrial Design
