Do you have the skills and experience to work with cross-functional leaders and analysts to design and implement game logic and innovative tools to detect and prevent cheating, toxicity, exploitation, and other disruptive behaviors? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you

As a Security Engineer within the Battlefield Game Development team, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining game logic and tools that protect the game from bad actors and ensure a fair and fun gaming environment for all players. You will use various technologies and methods to prevent and detect cheaters, hackers, exploiters, griefers, and other disruptive players. You will collaborate with the Game Ops Positive Play team, cross-functional Battlefield leaders, and other EA teams to take appropriate actions to maintain a safe, fair, and competitive Battlefield experience.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain game logic and tools that protect the game from bad actors and ensure a safe, fair, and fun gaming environment for all players across cheat, toxicity, and UGX vectors.
  • Use various technologies and methods to prevent and detect cheaters, hackers, exploiters, griefers, and other disruptive players, such as encryption, obfuscation, hashing, anti-debugging, anti-tampering, etc.
  • Develop processes, tools, and systems to act on verified bad actors according to Battlefield defined measures.
  • Document and escalate cases of confirmed bad actors to the appropriate teams for further action.
  • Work with the Game Integrity Lead (Product Role) to communicate and coordinate with other teams within EA, such as other game teams (e.g., Apex, FC), Security, Data, Legal, Customer Support, and Community Management, to ensure a consistent and effective approach to positive play enforcement.
  • Work across the Game Ops team to provide feedback and suggestions to improve the game's integrity through security, moderation, anti-toxicity, and anti-cheat systems, as well as the policies and procedures for positive play enforcement.

Skills

  • 4+ years of experience in security engineering, game development, or online gaming enforcement, preferably in AAA and/or FPS development.
  • Familiarity with online gaming platforms, services, and technologies, such as EA Play, Steam, Xbox Live, PSN, Easy Anti-Cheat, etc.
  • Knowledge of common cheating, hacking, exploiting, and griefing methods and tools used in online games, as well as the countermeasures and solutions to prevent and detect them.
  • Proficiency in programming languages, such as C++, C#, Java, Python, etc.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Passion for gaming and positive play.
