Job description
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Splicer or Splicer Apprentice to join our dynamic team. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals looking to start their career in the fiber optic industry. The successful candidate will work under the guidance of experienced technicians, learning the essential skills required for splicing and maintaining fiber optic networks.
Please note this is NOT a remote position, this is for someone located in or moving to BC's interior South - No LOA/travel accommodation applies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the installation, splicing, testing, and troubleshooting of fiber optic cables.
- Learn to perform splicing of fiber optic cables both aerially and underground in accordance with industry standards.
- Help with the preparation and maintenance of splicing records and documentation.
- Support senior technicians in fieldwork, including setup and teardown of equipment.
- Follow safety protocols and industry standards to ensure high-quality work.
- Participate in on-the-job training and attend relevant workshops or courses as required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical diploma or relevant coursework in telecommunications or electronics is a plus.
- Basic understanding of fiber optic technology and telecommunications is preferred.
- Strong willingness to learn and develop new skills.
- Good manual dexterity and ability to handle small, delicate components.
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including heights and confined spaces.
- Possessing a Class 5 BC Driver's License is considered an asset.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong computer and phone skills are essential.
- Regular use of apps such as Google Drive, Discord, Teams, and Outlook is required.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently when necessary.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $20.00-$30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 45 per week
