Purpose

Reporting to the Stationary Maintenance Team Leaders, the Millwright Apprentice minimizes downtime and ensures optimum equipment effectiveness through proactive maintenance practices. This position is responsible for preserving the condition of all fixed equipment. This includes various tasks but is not limited to troubleshooting, lubrication, inspections and component replacements and rebuilds.

Responsibilities include:
  • Safely and efficiently perform maintenance activities to preserve the condition of the fixed maintenance equipment in all areas of the mine, both surface and underground assets
  • Troubleshooting, cleaning, lubricating, adjusting, inspecting, repairing, component replacements and rebuilds
  • Participate in maintenance and reliability improvement projects and working in a Team Environment
The ideal candidate will possess the following education, experience and competencies:
  • Candidates must possess an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or High School Equivalency.
  • Will be required to attend and successfully complete a 8000 hour apprenticeship which includes 3 school term sessions consisting of ten (10) weeks for each session taking approximately 4 years to complete.
  • Past experience with industrial setting would be an asset
  • Strong commitment to working in a safe, socially responsible manner
  • Willingness to communicate, learn, and be innovative 
  • As a self-starter, you will be versatile and results oriented with a strong willingness to complete the apprenticeship to Certified Millwright Journeyperson
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills
  • Strong Mechanical aptitude
Working Conditions

The schedule for this position will consist of 14 days on and 14 days off, 12 hours per day.
