About the Opportunity

The Financial Analyst role is an important role across the finance portfolio, ensuring all processes and system technology is efficient and working to support stakeholders, customers, vendors, and employees.
The Financial Analyst will have key relationships across the Finance team and with senior leaders across Nova Scotia Health and will be assigned accountability for initiatives and projects that involve coordination with key stakeholders.

Reporting to the Manager of Accounts Payable, the AP Financial Analyst will be assigned accountability for analytical work as well as strategic initiatives. The Analyst is responsible for the creation, management and dissemination of accurate and timely reports and analysis for their department. The Analyst will provide proactive expertise and advice in conducting analysis and developing recommendations to support business decisions, improve performance, reduce risks and assist in developing business cases to support and improve performance.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Graduate of a recognized post-secondary business and/or accounting program
  • Undergraduate degree preferred
  • Enrolment or completion of accounting designation considered an asset
  • Minimum three (3) years' strong functional system experience and knowledge of accounts payable, budget, corporate reporting, general accounting and financial analytics. Recent relevant experience within the last 5 years
  • Possesses a solid understanding of accounts payable processes and key performance indicators
  • Excellent collaboration, verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and conceptual thinking skills
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office, specifically Excel
  • Experience in engaging, mentoring and empowering teams and stakeholders in a collaborative, participative manner to respond to the mission, vision, goals and objectives of the organization
  • Ability to prioritize workload, meet deadlines, and work effectively under pressure with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred.

  • Permanent, full-time position, 75 hrs bi-weely
Compensation and Benefits

$33.14 - $41.42 Hourly

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
