Registered Nurse - Psychosis Recovery and Treatment Unit 8
Location: McCain Complex Care and Recovery Building
The Complex Care and Recovery Program is currently seeking two (2) part-time, permanent Registered Nurses to work in the Psychosis Recovery and Treatment Unit 8 (PRT 8). As a member of an inter-professional team, you will provide client-centered psychiatric and general nursing care. As well, you will be expected to ensure safety and security of the client care environment. You will practice in accordance with College of Nurses of Ontario professional standards, Canadian Standards for Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing, the CAMH Practice Model of Care, CAMH Policies and Procedures, and other relevant Legislation and Regulations.
Using a primary nursing model, you will be expected to perform ongoing assessments, develop, implement and evaluate the inter-professional plan of client care for clients with Schizophrenia. You will liaise with other services in the Complex Care and Recovery Program and community agencies to coordinate care for clients. Your skills include the ability to make behavioural observations and assessments, including mental status and physical assessments, monitoring patient’s response to pharmaceutical and other care interventions; You will have sound knowledge of, crisis intervention, psychosocial rehabilitation, severe and persistent mental illness and Schizophrenia. Your strengths include an ability to perform assessments, develop, implement and evaluate interdisciplinary client centered care plans. You will support and contribute to a healthy workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable and regulatory requirements. These positions involves 12 hour shift rotation and weekend work located at the Queen Street Site.
N and CNA certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing. You have demonstrated ability to intervene effectively in clinical situations requiring the prevention and management of disturbed behaviour. Psychiatric nursing experience with individuals with mental illness and/or addictions is an asset. The ability to work with clients of diverse cultural and social backgrounds is necessary. Computer literacy is required. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.
Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code. Please Note: These two (2) part-time, permanent positions are a 0.CAMH is fully affiliated with the University of Toronto and is a teaching hospital and research institute. As a CAMH employee, you will be expected to actively support CAMH’s teaching and research activities, in addition to supporting the clinical work of the hospital.
