Schedule: Monday - Friday; 9am - 5pm
JOB SUMMARY
Island Community Mental Health is a not-for-profit organization who has achieved the Accreditation Primer Award in 2017. We uses national standards to guide our organization to effectively examine and improve the quality and safety of our services, and achieve excellence in all areas (i.e. governance, service delivery, leadership, medication management, infection prevention and control) of the organization.
We promote integration in the communities surrounding Victoria through partnerships with the individual, their family members and the community.
To further help serve our community, we are looking for a compassionate and dedicated leader to join our team. Reporting to the Director of Programs, this position provides management to staff at our licensed care sites and works closely with our management team in carrying out delivery of care and nursing oversight.
TYPICAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Provide day-to-day management to licensed care staff, including licensed practical nurses, mental health workers, cleaning staff and kitchen staff;
· Effectively plan, assign and coordinate team resources to maintain a high standard of service;
· Delegation of Task oversight, related teaching and process improvement;
· Assume primary responsibility to evaluate and manage staff performance to ensure quality care and work performance with ICMH Human Resources department;
· Provide direction and consultation to licensed practical nurses and mental health workers on provision of care;
· Provide strong leadership and foster family and client centered care in a collaborative positive work environment;
· Identify and appropriately address any risk management and quality issues in conjunction with members of the leadership team;
· Participate in program, policy & procedure development as well as quality improvement initiatives; including Accreditation Standards;
· Conduct nursing assessments of clients with various psychiatric diagnosis through interviews, observation and data collected from the residential team and other sources;
· Monitor the effect of interventions and therapies on the client in an ongoing relationship with the client, the residential team, and families;
· Recommend changes to, or maintenance of the psycho-social rehabilitation plan in partnership with all relevant stakeholders and care team;
· Maintain comprehensive records by documenting data, assessments, treatment and progress in the client’s medical records according to ICMHA , Island Health and Licensing policies and applicable procedures;
· Participates in on-call manager rotation;
· Perform other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Typical Education, Training, and Experience
· Graduate of a recognized nursing or psychiatric nursing program;
· Current practicing registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN or a practicing RPN;
· Three (3) years recent experience in a community setting or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
· Knowledge of the Mental Health Act.

· Travel may be a requirement of this position and transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of Vancouver Island Health Authority.
