Instructor/ Driver Trainer Class 1

SOUTHLAND is currently seeking experienced driver trainers to join our team. The Training Instructor is responsible for the effective training of new employees and the continued education of current drivers. In-house training is provided as per the programs, policies and guidelines of SOUTHLAND’s Training Department. This position requires an ability to communicate well with tact and diplomacy in confidential matters. Training takes place Monday through Friday.
Knowledge and Skills Required
Class 1 or 2 driver's license, “S” Endorsed held for a minimum three (3) years
Knowledge of Highway Traffic Act and Emergency Procedures
Class 2S certified and able to pass the trainer certification with the Ministry of Transportation
Clean 10-year commercial drivers abstract
Maintain a high level of confidentiality
Ability to work independently and within a team environment
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Classroom sessions for new trainees
Daily assessment of driving skills
On-the-road evaluations
Utilize TrackIt for training progress
Be accessible to drivers with any questions or concerns they may have with Training & Development as well as help to develop skills as a School Bus Driver
Drive any school route that needs to be covered
Working Conditions
Typical hours are 9:30 am to 2:30 pm during the school year, with additional hours based on operational needs. Summer hours are an 8-hour day. The ideal candidate is a School Bus Driver with SOUTHLAND, with a valid class 2S for over 3 years, fulfilling training duties in between a regular AM/PM school bus run.
