Under the general supervision of the Clinical Practice Chief, Respiratory Services, and being administratively accountable to the Manager, Health Services; performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures related to respiratory therapy; assists with in-services/education and provides input into program development at Langley Memorial Hospital.
Performs diagnostic and therapeutic assessments, interventions and follow-ups as related to Respiratory Therapy such as assisting with cardiopulmonary resuscitation and support, initiating/maintaining mechanical ventilatory support of adults, children and infants, providing airway management, patient evaluation and daily care of patients as prescribedand documents same.
# maintains area supply inventory.
# Participates in quality improvement activities such as development, implementation and evaluation of written procedures and standards, development of assessment forms and patient materials, and the development of departmental goals and objectives.
# Monitors and performs required maintenance, cleaning, calibration, evaluation and quality control of respiratory and related equipment.
# Participates in Respiratory Therapy student education as required.
# Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
