Employment Type : Full-time, Indeterminate, Term, Casual, Job-share
Closing Date: Open until filled Are you an experienced Registered Nurse, or Community Health Nurse that has always wanted to practice in rural and remote communities? Are you looking for the next adventure in your nursing career? so dip your toes in the water with a short term contract or dive right into a permanent position. The opportunities available in our communities are perfect for the outdoors enthusiast looking for adventure, a healthy work/life balance, and an escape from the hustle of the big city.
This community is a short drive from the Capital of Yellowknife.
The Beaufort-Delta Region is home to the northern-most communities in the Northwest Territories. Famous for wildlife sightings like polar bears, reindeer, muskoxen and caribou, this unique region above the tree line is simply breathtaking. With most communities in this region accessible by road, there is a full range of essential services.
The Sahtu Region is an explorer’s dream, as it is home to beautiful mountain landscapes, the famous Canol Heritage Trail and Great Bear Lake, whose deep waters make for excellent fishing.
Located within the Community Health Centre and reporting directly to the Nurse in Charge (NIC), the Community Health Nurse helps to deliver community health services to the client population. The Health Centre is the sole medical facility in the community.
Community Health Services include providing non-emergency medical care; responding to medical emergencies that require decision making outside of the usual policies, procedures and standards of nursing care; and delivering nursing programs designed to promote community health and wellness. Services may be provided within the Health Centre, community halls, schools and in a patient's home (i.e. elderly population) and are intended to promote a healthy way of life, and decrease the incidence of death and disease. Typically these positions require a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, plus two (2) years of recent nursing experience in an acute care setting or within a northern health centre.
In addition to highly competitive salaries, the Northwest Territories offers a Northern Living Allowance, health and dental benefits, a generous pension plan, and outstanding leave benefits including deferred leave options. On top of that, we offer relocation assistance, along with professional development opportunities and education support.
