We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Physician to join our team at the Western Communities Substance Use Program. As a Physician, you will play a vital role in providing outpatient Addiction Medicine Services to individuals struggling with substance use disorders in the Western Communities area.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain opioid agonist therapy (OAT) for stable clients.
- Conduct new patient consultations and initiate OAT for clients with opioid use disorder.
- Perform comprehensive assessments, diagnosis, and treatment planning for patients, with a focus on managing withdrawal symptoms.
- Assess, diagnose, and manage patients with complex overlapping pain and addiction disorders.
- Initiate OAT when required for opioid use disorders.
- Initiate anti-craving medication for clients with alcohol use disorder.
- Perform relevant diagnostic testing for the treatment of substance use disorders.
- Facilitate robust discharge planning to connect patients with their Most Responsible Provider (MRP).
- Document patient care when the patient is not present.
- Review diagnostic tests.
- Participate in patient-specific conferences and team meetings when appropriate
- Correspond and communicate with other patient care providers.
Clinical Administrative Services:
- Engage in clinically related administrative activities, including medical audits, peer and interdisciplinary reviews, chart reviews, and incident report reviews.
- Provide consultation with other programs or agencies specific to the services.
- Contribute to program planning and development activities when appropriate.
- Participate in evaluating the efficiency, quality, and delivery of services.
Qualifications:
- Medical degree from an accredited institution.
- Valid medical license in the province of British Columbia.
- Board certification in Addiction Medicine (preferred).
- Experience in providing addiction medicine services and treating substance use disorders.
- Strong clinical skills in assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning for substance use disorders.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
