About us The Christchurch Call Foundation exists to coordinate the Christchurch Call’s work to eliminate terrorist and violent extremist content online. Our work is a key part of the response to the March 2019 attacks on the Christchurch mosques. The voluntary commitments in the Call are now being implemented by governments and online service providers, working within a multi-stakeholder community. The Call is now supported by 56 governments, 19 online service providers, 12 partner organisations, and an Advisory Network of around 50 civil society organisations and researchers. The Call is based on shared values that set the bar for participation. About the roles We are looking to add a Principal Strategy Advisor and a Senior Strategy Advisor to our growing team. Both of these positions will be deeply involved in our core work and an integral part of the key projects we have underway. You’ll be working with a wide range of stakeholders across the globe and will also: Lead and contribute to complex policy projects Provide expert-level written and oral policy advice and guidance Conduct research and trend analysis that spans the globe, maintaining an understanding of global research and academic insights related to key policy issues Assess and manage risk, as well as identifying opportunities associated with online and digital platforms Build trust and foster relationships with global stakeholders, as well as cultivating advocacy and support for our mission These positions are both a 12-month fixed term and as we’re moving towards being a global team, we’re comfortable for these roles to be based anywhere in the world, with an initial focus on locations in USA, Europe, UK, New Zealand, Australia, and Asia. About you For the Principal level position, you will already be working as a Principal Advisor, bringing around 8 years of policy experience. Along with this, you’ll have a deep understanding of the online and digital landscape and will be able to draw on multiple examples of leading complex projects, as well as coaching and mentoring junior staff. For the Senior level position, you may already be working as a Senior, or perhaps looking for the opportunity to step into your first Senior level role. You’ll have at least 3 years of policy experience with an understanding of the online and digital landscape, and will hold a qualification from a relevant field. For both positions, we’re ideally looking for: Experience in leading / contributing to complex policy projects, providing expert-level advice, drawing on a sound understanding legal frameworks, regulatory environments, and the interplay between technology, business, and policy An understanding of, and experience in, conducting global research, analysing emerging trends in technology and markets, and translating this into actionable policy recommendations Expertise in assessing and managing risks related to digital and online platforms, as well as the ability to engage strategically with online communities and leverage digital networks for policy innovation. Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with an ability to adapt this to a variety of audiences Ability to thrive in a start-up environment and happy to be hands-on in the detail Able to travel globally as needed Next steps If this sounds like the challenge you’re looking for, please apply now with your CV and cover letter.
