Deep Sky is at the forefront of combating climate change through innovative carbon removal technologies. As a senior member of our team, you'll be part of a dynamic group of professionals committed to driving positive technological change in environmental policy and technology.
Reporting to the Vice President, Government Affairs and Public Policy, the Director of Government Affairs and Public Policy (Western Canada), you will play a pivotal role in shaping the legislative and regulatory landscape and advancing our company's mission to combat climate change through carbon removal technologies.
Working closely with the senior leadership team you will lead Deep Sky’s interactions in Western Canada with government officials, agencies, and stakeholders. This role offers the opportunity to make a tangible impact on global climate efforts and build a new economic sector while engaging with diverse stakeholders and advocating for sustainable practices.
Develop and implement public policy campaigns aimed at promoting carbon removal technologies and fostering supportive regulatory frameworks.
- Engage directly with government officials, policymakers, and industry stakeholders to advocate for policies that accelerate the deployment of carbon removal solutions.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments related to climate change, green finance, carbon removal, and environmental policy, providing analysis of potential impacts on the company's operations and industry.
- Research and analyze emerging policy trends and opportunities in the energy, oil and gas, and renewable energy sectors, informing strategic decision-making and advocacy efforts.
- Represent the company in industry associations and other policy leadership forums

Experience working with government agencies and officials, with a demonstrated track record of influencing public policy outcomes.
- Experience working with local communities, first nation and indigenous communities would be considered a significant bonus
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts and policy issues effectively to diverse audiences, including policymakers, industry stakeholders, and the public.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to synthesize information from multiple sources to inform policy positions and advocacy strategies.
- Eligibility to engage in government lobbying activities, where applicable a must
