Intermediate Biologist - Roe Environmental Inc. (Nanaimo or mid-Vancouver Island)POSITION SUMMARYPosition tasks include: Biological field assessments (vegetation, fish/wildlife, species at risk, etc.).Environmental monitoring including fish/wildlife salvage.Erosion and sediment control monitoring and planning.Report writing (assessment reports, construction environmental management plans, etc.).Supporting development permit application projects.Fish and wildlife permit applications.Provincial and federal permit applications.POSITION TERMFull-time (30 – 40 hours per week) commencing immediately or at an agreed upon date. POSITION LOCATIONPosition will be located in Nanaimo or mid-Vancouver Island to support Vancouver Island projects from Duncan to Port Hardy.The head office location is in North Vancouver, BC. The position will support Lower Mainland projects requiring an estimated 2-3 trips to the mainland per month (estimated 5-7 remote work days per month). Reporting and desktop work will be completed at home/remote. PREFERRED CAPABILTIESField work experience in aquatic biology (e.g., fish and amphibian surveys/salvages and habitat assessment), terrestrial wildlife and birds (e.g., breeding bird nest surveys, raptor surveys, wildlife and species at risk surveys) and vegetation assessment. Experience in report writing, development permit applications, provincial and federal permits applications and CEMP/EIA report writing.Experience with applying for municipal development permit applications.Ability to work independently and as part of a group in both remote and urban settings.Strong organizational and time management skills.Ability to adapt to a changing work environment and be flexible with scheduling.Strong interpersonal skills for client and contractor communications.Technically proficient in desktop research methods, word processing and mapping. Strong technical report writing would be an asset.AutoCAD/GIS experience.Eligibility for professional designation (B.I.T., R.B. Tech., R.P. Bio)REQUIREMENTS>3 years experience in applied biology Ability to work remotely approximately 7 days per monthValid Class 5 Driver’s License and clean Driver’s Abstract.
