Outdoor Ambassadors

Organizational Description: Assiniboine Park Conservancy (Assiniboine Park and Zoo) is a team of dedicated staff and volunteers who employ visionary leadership and best practices that protect, nurture and enhance Assiniboine Park and Assinibone Park Zoo to provide extraordinary visitor experiences for present and future generations.
Volunteers are deployed in many locations in the Zoo, Park and The Leaf, Children/Adult programs and workshops and Special Events. providing basic information and interesting news of the day to visitors, giving directions, and sharing details on upcoming events and attractions.
Engagement Ambassadors use interpretive techniques and tools, to interact with adults and children throughout the Zoo and The Leaf, sharing information about our animals and plants through conversation and storytelling, Engagement Ambassadors enhance the visitor experience by:
- promoting an appreciation of our animals and plants and their environments
- Additional training is provided.
Facilities, Grounds and Horticulture Volunteers provide support to staff by litter picking, fence painting, weed pulling and other duties that help keep our park and zoo beautiful. Volunteers must be 14 years of age or older to qualify for this position.
Fluency in spoken and written English is essential. Ability to speak a second language is an asset.
The ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time outdoors or indoors (accommodations can be made upon request) or use mobility aids.
Criminal record and child abuse registry checks for volunteers 18 years of age or older.
Time Commitment: Daytime , Evening , Weekend
The Ambassador and Engagement Ambassador programs are year-round with a 3 hour shift per week commitment required during spring and summer months. Does opportunity require a child abuse registry check? French speaking / Bilingual (French and English)
