Job Summary

AECOM is searching for a Senior level Civil Engineer to be based in our Burnaby, BC office for our Water and Wastewater conveyance group. The successful candidate will have a solid understanding and significant experience in civil engineering, civil technology, project management, design and construction of municipal infrastructure and is familiar with hydraulic modelling and planning principles. She/he will be expected to work successfully within a team environment and be able to communicate effectively with other project team members and customers. He/she will have a high level of initiative, motivation, and displays drive, energy and enthusiasm for getting things done. The successful candidate will be expected to support in the delivery of infrastructure to customers mostly within the municipal storm water, water and wastewater sector.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  1. Design and project management of civil systems associated with municipal water and/or wastewater /drainage conveyance facilities
  2. Prepare documentation for design projects and reports
  3. Prepare construction cost estimates
  4. Preparation of project specifications and contract documents
  5. Perform constructability reviews
  6. Perform contract administration
  7. Perform construction inspections

Additional responsibilities will include client communication and management; proposal preparation; coordination with regulatory agencies, project planning, budgeting, and scheduling.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering + 8 years of relevant experience in civil engineering or municipal engineering.

Experience with civil engineering, hydraulic modelling, planning, design construction inspection, contract administration

Eligible for registration as P.Eng with EGBC

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Experience with water / wastewater / drainage conveyance infrastructure in a Municipal environment, including both gravity and pressurized systems
  2. Eligible for registration as P.Eng with EGBC
  3. Relevant experience in North America
  4. Training and experience in project management
  5. Experience in proposal writing and job scoping
  6. Working knowledge of blue and green infrastructure: ponds, wetlands, bioswales, raingardens, etc.
  7. Familiarity with Hydraulic Modelling platforms
  8. MMCD Contract Administration certification
  9. Excellent written skills needed for technical reports
  10. Proficient with MS Office Suite
  11. Valid BC Class V Driver's License
  12. Excellent attention to detail
  13. Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors and clients
  14. Comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary environment
