Description

Role: As an Aquatic Leadership Instructor your goal will be to lead exceptional National Lifeguard and/or Swim and Lifesaving courses for our customers using Lifesaving Society Program Model Design.

Reports to: Aquatic Programs and Operations Manager

What You’ll Do:
  • Teach the Lifesaving Society leadership programs in a safe and effective manner
  • Maintain current certifications
  • Present a professional appearance and attitude at all times
  • Maintain a high standard of customer engagement
  • Attend and participate in ongoing training and development opportunities, including four Leadership Instructor in-services per year
  • Handle or refer programs and situations as they arise in the facility
  • Prepare, maintain and submit appropriate lesson plans, progress evaluations and test sheets
  • Maintain a level of fitness necessary to fulfill the practical elements for demonstrating each skill while teaching
  • Develop and integrate new, unique and innovative ideas, teaching methods and games through the use of Lifesaving Society approved resources
  • Teach Lifesaving leadership courses in a safe and effective manner
  • Complete all necessary administration that is associated with teaching leadership courses
  • Communicate effectively and in a timely manner with supervisors and participants
  • Willingness to integrate into the team, openness to learn from other team members
  • Willingness to pursue higher levels of certification or technical skills as required
  • Work closely with the Aquatic Programs Manager/Aquatic Shift Leaders to develop or enhance Aquatic Programs short and long term
What You Need:
  • A strong work ethic and initiative relating to continuous improvement
  • Lifesaving Instructor Certification (current) required
  • CPR C (recertified within one year) and Standard First Aid (recertified within 2 years) required
  • Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard Certification (current) required
  • National Lifeguard Instructor Certification (current) OR Swim and Lifesaving Instructor Trainer (current) OR First Aid Instructor Certification (current)
  • Previous work experience in a Lifesaving Leadership Instructor role (1 year) required
  • Previous work experience in a trainer role is an asset
  • Demonstrated leadership capacity
  • Excellent customer engagement, communication, problem solving, judgment, skill in the application of life guarding surveillance and rescue techniques, and the ability to deal with conflict diplomatically will help ensure your success
  • Dedicated and reliable with a strong commitment to teamwork
  • Strong public relations and excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • A high sense of urgency, ability to think clearly while handling multiple priorities in emergency situations
