Job Title: Ramadan Lead
Location: 2445 Waverley Grand Mosque
Terms: Part Time (30 Evenings of Ramadan)

About us: The Manitoba Islamic Association (MIA) traces its roots to the late fifties and early sixties of the 20th century, when Muslim immigrants to Manitoba came together to worship, learn, and socialize. MIA was officially incorporated in 1969 and has grown from its humble beginnings to being the oldest and largest membership-based Islamic organization in Manitoba.

Daily Responsibilities

  • Oversee all MIA Ramadan Events (eg. Organize operational flow, assign volunteers, organize tickets, welcome table, set up when necessary, caretakers, etc.)
  • Be able to recruit the right number of volunteers required per taraweeh or event
  • Set up MIA tables at every Taraweeh (forms, donations boxes etc.)
  • Ensure MIA Ramadan Calendar is being followed and bookings are not being overlapped
  • Assign volunteers various tasks each night
  • Ensure that all MIA protocol is being followed each night
  • Oversee the proper storage of all MIA forms, supplies, table clothes etc. at the end of the night
  • Guide Ramadan staff during events for flawless executions and implement time management and restrictions
  • Ensure all donation boxes are set up each night, volunteers are doing lines, and then secured in the bookkeeper’s office at the end of the night
  • Secure children and ensure they are not out of bounds or involved in inappropriate activity
  • Other duties as required

Education

  • University Credentials

Skills and Qualifications

  • Excellent communication both oral and written
  • High quality customer service
  • Must be fluent in English (additional languages an asset)
  • High attention to detail/ability to multi-task
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Team player but efficient in solo work
  • Passionate, driven to deliver the best in all tasks
  • Time Management

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiar with using POS Machines
  • Previous experience with event planning/and coordinating
  • Knowledge of how to handle large crowds and lead teams
