The Ontario College of Family Physicians (OCFP) represents more than 15,000 family physicians across the province. We support our members by advocating for the vital role family physicians play in delivering the highest quality care to patients and families across Ontario, providing evidence-based education and professional development, and promoting and recognizing leadership excellence in family medicine. Reporting to the Manager, Education and Practice Supports, the primary role of the Program Manager, Knowledge Translation and Exchange (KTE) is to support the development, implementation, and evaluation of knowledge activities to support the OCFP’s strategic plan.
The primary purpose of the role is to develop, implement and evaluate knowledge translation and mobilization activities in support of OCFP’s education and practice support for family physicians. Knowledge Translation Planning
Develops OCFP’s knowledge translation framework and standards for KTE products, tools, and resources.
Contributes to OCFP business plans and objectives as they relate to knowledge translation.
Works with members of the department to determine the most effective ways to mobilize new knowledge into reports, presentations/webinars, and online content aimed at a variety of information users, including but not limited to Education and Practice Supports, Communication, Policy and Advocacy and senior leadership.
Applies a project management approach in overseeing the planning, development, and implementation of all KTE products, resources, and tools.
Leads and supports other OCFP initiatives as assigned, to develop KTE, whether for operations, projects, or research.
Knowledge Translation Development
Applies best practices in KTE to convert complex concepts, program models and evaluation findings into graphical and easy-to-understand resources for a variety of communications vehicles, both print and digital, with a focus on resources for family physicians in a variety of settings (i.e., Primary Care Networks, Ontario Health Teams, payment models, etc.).
Designs, organizes, and facilitates knowledge exchange events such as conferences, webinars, community forums and other engagement activities.
Collaborates with OCFP team to write topic-specific summaries to support knowledge translation for a wide audience (e.g., president’s message, tools and resources website etc.
Collects, organize, analyze, and report on qualitative and quantitative feedback and evaluation data.
Develops and maintains strong external partnership to ensure the relevance and quality of our knowledge products.
Works with other OCFP departments and partners to enable new, innovative modes of information dissemination, such as online forums, blogs, podcasts, social media, and infographics.
Acts as a representative for the department’s activities involving knowledge translation, dissemination and evaluation activities (e.g., University degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or health-related field.
Certification in Adult Education or Knowledge Translation is preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of work experience supporting marketing and communications initiatives, with at least 3 years emphasis on knowledge translation and evaluation in healthcare.
Demonstrated experience in all aspects of knowledge translation and exchange, such as knowledge synthesis, data visualization, product development, dissemination, exchange, management and evaluation.
Experience developing resources and using software that enables content to meet Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA)guidelines.
Fluency in English is required with the ability to synthesize and translate complex information in a variety of formats.
Sound judgment, planning and organizational skills to ensure that research, analysis, and information needs and requirements are established and met with priorities and deadlines being observed in support of the achievement of overall program goals.
Strong written communication skills to prepare information analysis reports and develop presentations.
Experience analyzing activity/utilization data and presenting results to a variety of audiences. Project planning and management. Adept at balancing concurrent tasks and projects and works effectively in a dynamic work environment.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite, in particular Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Publisher.
Availability to work a flexible schedule on occasion, including weekends and evenings.
