Our Global Corporate and Specialty (GCS) is a general insurance (GI) business that provides insurance solutions for large corporate and specialty products for commercial entities. Its core product lines are Property, Casualty, Auto, Surety, and Equipment Breakdown (EBI).
This opportunity is for an Actuarial Pricing Manager focused in our GCS Operations which is located in downtown Toronto. The role is an independent contributor that specializes in serving the pricing needs of GCS. You will be part of a team that supports the existing portfolio of corporate risks and programs.
You will help to set the pricing agenda for GCS products (all segments including EBI) in conjunction with leadership teams to assist in the delivery of our growth and profitability aspirations for this business. In addition, you will ensure your various stakeholders have timely, accurate and relevant information to enhance business insight and decision making.
What you’ll do
Develop, implement and maintain the GCS technical pricing strategy including multinational risk pricing. Build a world class pricing infrastructure utilizing pricing techniques and leverage latest technologies for all GCS risks, and be responsible to take the lead on development and implementation of pricing tools.
Apply technical actuarial insights to inform timely and fit-for-purpose decision making for the evolving GCS book of business
Collaborate and communicate across the business with various stakeholders to ensure the pricing vision is achieved. Be able to communicate technical concept to non-technical audience and engage with business stakeholders to drive pricing proposal discussions
Present pricing insights to enable understanding of current and future GCS portfolios
Build strong collaboration with UK pricing, leveraging capabilities and tools where relevant
Strong focus on risk mitigation and building a risk-aware culture. Ensure adherence to the technical pricing standard and actuarial best practices. Be an advocate for risk management to business stakeholders. Be responsible for strong documentation of processes, decisions and methodologies.
What you’ll bring
7+ years of P&C experience with at least 3 years of Commercial pricing experience
Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics and/or related fields
Strong problem solving and excellent data analytical skills (SAS, R, Python, etc.)
Experience in working with catastrophe models is an advantage
Prior exposure in the corporate and specialty risk classes is preferred
Innovative and proven ability to drive through change
Skilled communicator; with proven track records to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical audience
